Hi all,
I found a colony of E. helleborine near where I live. I spent a few hours studying them. here are the results:
Two different colourforms:
E. helleborine is pollinated by wasps,
Some researchers claim that E. helleborine contains Toxic nectar making the wasps drunk and addicted. This addiction makes the wasps visit more flowers and thus enhance the chances of pollination. At one point two wasps where visiting the same plant and when they met a genuine Pub-fistfight whas the result.
I made a short film of this fight but can't seem to get the film the right way up
enjoy,
